NATCHEZ — An Adams County man is in the Intensive Care Unit at Natchez Community Hospital after a Friday morning home invasion and beating.
Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said the Adams County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 1353 U.S. 61 North at 9:09 Friday morning. When deputies arrived, they found the victim, Ronald Albritton, holding a shirt to his head and bleeding profusely.
Albritton told investigators he had just gotten out of the shower when he heard a knock at the door, and when he answered it, two white males between the ages of 30 and 40 — one with brown hair and the other blond — rushed into the house and started beating him with either large rings or brass knuckles.
The victim suffered a collapsed lung, broken ribs and broken facial bones, Mayfield said.
Albritton’s sister, Peggy Morgan, said her brother had to receive 32 stitches for lacerations he received during the beating.
“I want the cowards who did this to know that there is no fear here, there is no fear with Ronald and me,” Morgan said. “It is just not right for this to happen. I want to see them prosecuted.”
Mayfield said that based on the investigation so far, the ACSO does not believe the attack was a random one, but rather that the aggressors already knew Albritton.
The matter remains under investigation, Mayfield said.
