YAZOO CITY – Services for Alma Elizabeth Morris, 80, who died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, will be today at First Presbyterian Church of Yazoo City with the Rev. Sam Smith officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City.

Mrs. Morris was born July 12, 1932, in Natchez, the daughter of Hazel Latham Hauer and Carl Fredrick Hauer. She was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Ferriday where she devoted herself to various ministries until her move to Yazoo City.

Mrs. Morris was well known for her many talents — she sewed for the public, decorated cakes and was a gifted painter. She had a special love for children as evidenced by the number of photos of friends children displayed around her home.

Mrs. Morris made Yazoo City her home four years ago where she made a number of new friends, enjoyed family and loved church.

She will be affectionately remembered for her joyful disposition, devotion to family, her beautiful countenance as a result of God’s grace in her life and all of her wonderful works of art from quilting to painting.

Mrs. Morris loved helping other and her friends and family were encouraged by her positive outlook and faith in the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil Morris; and one brother, Carl Fredrick Hauer Jr.

Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Young and husband, Philip, and Debra Kirk; four grandchildren, Terri Barnes and husband, Barry, Jennifer Mayfield and husband, Les, Raymond E. Kirk Jr. and wife, Jennifer, and Cody Kirk and wife, Lauren; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles E. Hauer and companion, Malcom W. Weathersby.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to French Camp Academy.
