FERRIDAY — Services for Victor Thomas Mahoney Sr., 90, of Ridgecrest, who died Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, in Ferriday, will be at 2 p.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with the Rev. Ray Varnado officiating.
Burial will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Mahoney was born March 25, 1922, in Wisner, La., the son of L.V. Mahoney and Annie Mahoney. He was employed for a number of years by Chevron Oil Company and was a member of Sevier Memorial United Methodist Church.
Mr. Mahoney served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a 32 degree Master Mason.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his three sons, Bertha Goodfellow Mahoney; his second wife, Opal McAnally Mahoney; five sisters, Lena King, Omega Hatcher, Nona Kate Hale, Betty Lee Page and Chloe Black; and one brother, Eldridge Mahoney.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Gladys H. Mahoney of Ferriday; three sons, Victor T. Mahoney and wife, Betty, of West Monroe, La., Lonnie Mahoney and wife, Margitta, of Tampa, Fla., and Kenneth Mahoney and wife, Berry, of Lake St. John; one sister, Dolly Porter of Plano, Texas; five grandchildren, Brad, Amy, Shawn and Shannon Mahoney and Jeanette Domec; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of much loved nieces and nephews.
Vic was loved and held in very high regard by all of Gladys’ family as well as all who were blessed to know him.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Bass, Don King, Rickey Hale, Ward King, Will Clifton and Jeremy Moyer.
