JENA, La. — The Ferriday Trojans made some good strides on both sides of the ball Friday evening at their scrimmage against the Jena Giants. Offensively, Ferriday outscored Jena 5-1. However, on the goal line, the Giants outscored the Trojans 4-2.
“All the kids worked hard. We didn’t have one person stand out,” Ferriday head coach Cleothis Cummings said. “Everything we’re doing is a work in progress. We just have to get back to the drawing board.”
Cummings noted that the quarterback play improved, but there are a few things to work on. He also said that the running backs are getting better and that the defense “played wonderful.” He gave a lot of credit to his assistant coaches for getting the players ready.
Ferriday will next play at the Vidalia Jamboree on Saturday, Aug. 25 against Block at 7 p.m. and Vidalia at 8 p.m.
