NATCHEZ — Amite School Center had just one hit off Adams County Christian School starting pitcher Brooke Runnels in five-plus innings.
But seven walks by Runnels and some untimely errors allowed the visiting Lady Rebels to take a 5-3 win over the host Lady Rebels Monday afternoon.
ACCS got on the board first when Nikki Worthy singled and later scored on a bunt by Runnels in the bottom of the second inning for a 1-0 lead. ASC took its first lead of the game in the top of the third when a pair of walks, a sacrifice and an error led to two runs. ACCS regained the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI bunt by Abby Givens that scored Brooke Allen and an error that brought in Jessica Reynolds. ASC took the lead for good with three runs in the top of the sixth.
“I just didn’t have them prepared tonight, and I made a couple of bad decisions, so I take (the blame) for the loss,” ACCS head coach Forrest Foster said.
ACCS (12-7) plays at Columbia Academy today starting with the junior varsity game at 4 p.m. with the varsity game to follow.
Centreville at Bowling Green postponed
FRANKLINTON, La. — Inclement weather postponed Monday afternoon’s District 6-AA game between Centreville Academy and Bowling Green School.
After a 30-minute rain delay, the game was called off. Lady Tigers head coach Mark Mann said he would probably find out today when the game will be rescheduled.
Centreville will be in action today in a make-up game at home against district opponent Silliman Institute. The junior varsity game will start at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7:15 p.m. Bad weather forced both of those games to be halted on Aug. 9.
