Sharp QB leaves Vidalia winless one more time

DELHI, La. — The Vidalia Vikings are still searching for their first win since 2010 after Friday night’s loss to the Delhi Charter Gators 28-13.
“Their quarterback was the difference. He runs hard. He’s a big kid,” Vidalia head coach Gary Paul Parnham said. “We didn’t play as aggressively as we should’ve defensively.”
Parnham added that for the second straight game, Vidalia’s offense was able to move the ball up and down the field. However, mistakes such as penalties and missed blocking assignments halted potential scoring drives too often.
The Vikings played much of the second half without junior quarterback Michael Whitley, who went down with an injury early in the third quarter. Jonterris Townsend came in for him and Parnham said he did a good job.
“He did well managing the game. But he’s a freshman,” Parnham said.
Vidalia (0-2) plays at Concordia Parish rival Ferriday at 7 p.m. next Friday.
