MEADVILLE — A Saturday car crash on U.S. 84 near Clear Springs Road in Franklin County sent one local man to the hospital with severe injuries.

William C. Wright, 47, 2675 Scott Murray Road, Meadville, was driving east when he drove off the road, overturned his 1991 Ford Ranger pickup truck and collided with a tree, a Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman said.

Wright was ejected from the vehicle.

Troopers responded to the scene at 11:57 p.m.

Wright was initially transported to Franklin County Memorial Hospital by ambulance but was later air lifted to University Medical Center in Jackson.

He was not wearing a seat belt.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
