RAYMOND — Natchez-native Jeremy Davis made the play that put the game away Thursday night for the Copiah-Lincoln Community College football team.
With a little over four minutes left to play, Davis intercepted a pass from Hinds Community College quarterback Christopher Nelson and returned it 63 yards for a touchdown to put the Wolves up 20-6.
Nolan Long added the extra point, and Co-Lin won the game 21-6 to move to 2-1 on the season.
Co-Lin forced three Hinds turnovers to hold the Eagles to just two field goals.
Quarterback Chandler Rogers led the Wolves offense with 286 yards on 18 of 28 passing and one touchdown. Darius Guy served as Rogers’ main target. Guy caught seven passes for 111 yards.
Hinds opened the scoring in the second quarter with a 24-yard field goal by Tyler Powe.
Co-Lin answered with a 1-yard touchdown run by Rogers.
The Wolves extended their lead to 14-3 when Rogers found Casey Gladney for a 7-yard touchdown pass.
Hinds got within one possession when Powe connected on a 22-yard field goal with just over eight minutes to go in the game.
But Davis’ interception ended any chance of Hinds coming back to tie the game.
Co-Lin will host Jones County at 7 p.m. Thursday.
