FOREST — Shelly Case got the win in Games 1 and 2 as Franklin County High School topped Forest High School 13-7 and 5-4 in a best-of-three series in the MHSAA Class 3A slow-pitch playoffs Tuesday.

Case went the distance in both games for the Lady Bulldogs, giving up 14 hits in Game 1 and 15 hits in Game 2 but limiting Forest to just seven and four runs in each.

Head coach Dana Smith said she was happy with her team’s play as it advances to the second round of the playoffs, which Franklin County (12-10) will host Saturday.

“Both games we came from behind, and the girls stepped up and finally decided to put ball in play,” Smith said. “We fought hard for both wins. I was proud of how the girls stepped up. They played some solid defense in both games.”

Hayle McKinney, S. Middleton and Sierra Bethley all had doubles in Game 1, and Lay Lay Griffin hit a home run for Franklin County.

In Game 2, a double by Jamecia Starks drove in the game-winning run for Franklin County.
