NATCHEZ — Services for Dorsey “S” Harris, 85, of Natchez, who died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Daughters of Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry McClain officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Harris was born May 30, 1927, in Natchez, the son of Richard Harris and Gracie Strickland Harris. He was a member of Daughters of Zion Baptist Church.

Mr. Harris was retired from Diamond International Inc., as a millwright after 17 and one half years of service. He was also a farmer.

Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beatrice Wright Harris; six brothers, Richard Harris Jr., Willie Harris Sr., Nelson Harris, Edgar Harris, Gasby Harris and Ernest Harris; one son, Albert Woods; and one daughter, Angela James.

Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Porter of Ontario, Calif., and Diane Martin and husband, Phillip, of Lilburn, Ga.; two sons, Sylvester Harris and wife, Ercelia, of Natchez and Larry Harris of Jacksonville, Fla.; four sisters-in-law, Artimease Harris of Plano, Texas, Gertrude Sewell of Natchez, Sadie Fleming of New Orleans and Mary Douglas of Detroit; eight grandchildren, Carlos Harris, Nedra Hackett, Crystal Harris, Stacy Woods, Tiffany Moore and husband, Darryl, Casey Woods, Melody Porter and Isiah James; four great-grandchildren, Camren Fells, Chambliss Woods, Darryl Moore III and Stacy Woods Jr.; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
