HAZLEHURST — The Wilkinson County Wildcats hung tough with the Hazlehurst Indians for one half. But, Wilkinson County couldn’t make enough plays in the second half while Hazlehurst did.
And that was the difference as the Indians, the No. 1 team in all of Class 3A remained undefeated after beating the Wildcats 35-22 Friday night in a key Region 7-3A game for both teams.
Hazlehurst (9-0, 3-0) led Wilkinson County just 21-14 at halftime. However, the Indians got a couple of touchdowns in the second half while holding the Wildcats to just a touchdown and two-point conversion.
Wilkinson County (6-2, 1-2) hosts Crystal Springs at 7 p.m. next Friday.
