NATCHEZ — A Natchez man was arrested Saturday after being accused of molesting the 5-year-old daughter of his girlfriend.

Kendrick L. Nelson, 26, 79 Hobofork Road, was arrested on a charge of touching child for lustful purpose.

Natchez Detective Jerry Ford said the mother of the child had entrusted Nelson with picking the child up after school from the bus stop.

The mother noticed a change in the child’s behavior and consulted the child’s grandmother, Ford said.

While the child was staying with her grandmother, Ford said, the grandmother also noticed the child’s unusual behavior and questioned the child. The child reportedly revealed to her grandmother that Nelson had molested her.

No bond had been set for Nelson as of Saturday afternoon.
