NATCHEZ — Memorial services for Hayward Benton Drane Jr., 82, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at University of Mississippi Medical Center, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Vidalia.
Burial will be at noon at the Natchez National Cemetery.
Mr. Drane was born Feb. 25, 1930, in Natchez, the son of Hayward B. Drane and Louisa Sloan Drane. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University.
Mr. Drane was a retired Major of the U.S. Army, a former director of the Jackson Zoo and retired from International Paper Company. He was a former Scoutmaster for Troop 168 and Eagle Scout and a member of the Quarter Century Club with International Paper Company.
Mr. Drane was a former Junior Warden for the Episcopal Church of Good Shepherd.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Hayward B. Drane III; and two sisters, Mary Catherine Drane Burnett and Mary Ethel Drane Anderson.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbye Jean Hall Drane; three sons, Robert Hall Drane of Natchez, Gregor Wilson Drane of Vidalia and Dr. Kenneth S. Drane and wife, Cindy, of Louisville, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Brandi Drane Huff of Flowood, Reanna Drane of Detroit, Dr. Hayward B. Drane IV of Philadelphia, Pa., Alexis Drane of Hardwick, Vt., Meghan Drane of Ocean Springs, Quinton Drane of Branson, Mo., Lillian Grace Drane and Mary Catherine Drane, both of Louisville; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Theodore Erle Drane.
