NATCHEZ — Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield praised Tuesday work deputies and the volunteer search and rescue team did over the holiday weekend.
According to an Adams County Sheriff’s Office news release, after a father reported that his 7-year-old daughter had disappeared from the backyard in which she was playing on Scheffel Road at approximately 10:15 a.m. Friday, the ACSO and 34 volunteers with Adams County Search and Rescue responded.
By 12:20 p.m., the child was found with two of the family’s dogs near Spokane Road, unharmed but apparently scared. The child told deputies she had gotten lost while walking in the woods, release said.
“Our deputies respond to these calls immediately, and we are fortunate in Adams County to have our dedicated SAR team of volunteers,” Mayfield said.
In the ACSO’s public incident reports for Friday, the incident was listed as an “intelligence report.”
