AMITE, La. — Services for Lina Warren Brock, 92, who died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at her home, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Helena Catholic Church in Amite, La., with the Rev. Mark Beard officiating.
Burial will follow at Mulberry Street Cemetery in Amite under the direction of McKneely Funeral Home in Amite.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Mrs. Brock was born Feb. 21, 1920, in Lismore, La., the daughter of Pierre and Sally Beard Warren.
Mrs. Brock received her bachelor of science degree from Northwestern Louisiana University in 1942, worked as a rural sociologist for Louisiana State University AG Center in Baton Rouge and later taught high school until her retirement.
She was known as “the flower lady” and received a number of Garden of the Month awards.
Mrs. Brock was preceded in death by her husband, Latimer A. Brock Sr.; one son, Ray E. Brock; her parents; infant sister, Bettie Etta Warren; and her second husband, Irvin P. Bernard Sr.
Survivors include four children, Bettie Johnson and husband, Charles, of Thibodaux, La., Carolyn Helms and husband, Vernon, of Schriever, La., Latimer A. “Bubba” Brock Jr. and wife, Cecelia, of Natalbany, La., and Robbie Davenport of Lismore, La.; 11 grandchildren, Kristin H. LaFleur, Latimer A. “Bub” Brock III and wife, Jill, Casey H. Smythe and husband, Jimmy, Jay E. Helms and wife, Rosemary, Dennis Lee Brock and wife, Gretchen, Leslie P. Clifton and husband, Bubba, Cristalle Brock, Amanda P. Coleman and husband, Jeffrey, Rebecca J. Overmier and husband, Scott, Lauren J. Jambon and husband, Ross, and James B. Brock; and 18 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Community Care Hospice, her two sitters, Jan Hall and her daughter, Robbie, for their dedicated care and service.
