NATCHEZ — The purchasers of the 15.4 acres of property behind the Margaret Martin Performing Arts Center have no immediate plans for the property.
The property was purchased from the City of Natchez by the Worley Family Trust and is adjacent to Dunleith, which the family also owns.
Dunleith General Manager John Holyoak said there are currently no plans for the property. He said the property was purchased to ensure nothing that might be detrimental to Dunleith’s business was built on the property.
The Natchez Board of Aldermen recently declared the property surplus and voted last week to sell the property for $192,000 to the Worley Family Trust.
The sale price was determined by the average of two appraisals of the property as required by law.
The sale of the property is contingent upon approval of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, which must have the opportunity to conduct an impact study on the property.
