DALLAS, Ga. — Services for the Rev. Robert William Jenkins, 76, of Natchez, who died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Natchez Regional Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at White Oak Springs Baptist Church near Dallas, Ga.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Good Shepherd Funeral Home in Rome, Ga.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday, both at the church.

Rev. Jenkins was born July 18, 1936, in Ohatchee, Ala. He moved to Cartersville, Ga., at the age of 14. Prior to being saved and ordained a Baptist minister, he was a contractor in Cartersville.

Rev. Jenkins served as a missionary first for eight years on the island of Dominca in the West Indies before serving at Marantha Baptist Mission for 27 years overseeing the building of Marantha Haven. For eight years he was executive director of Baptist Pioneer Mission overseeing the building of their three story headquarters.

Returning to Natchez, he and Brother Johnny Welborn established the Warrenton Baptist Mission Agency and oversaw the erection of their mission building. He also preached in a number of churches throughout the United States.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Nancy P. Jenkins; two daughters, Luanne Hurst and husband, Dan, and Jane Tipton and husband, James; two sons, Robert W. Jenkins and Ricky Lee Jenkins; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
