FERRIDAY — Services for Glenda Nell White, 55, of Ferriday, who went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, surrounded by her family, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ferriday Church of God.

Burial will follow at Harrisonburg Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church.

Miss White was born Sept. 22, 1957, in Ferriday, the daughter of Father Vernon Morris White Sr. and Mary Belle White. She was an active member of Ferriday Church of God.

Glenda was the most precious and dedicated daughter a parent could ever have. Although she never had children of her own, she was “motherly” to all of her nieces, nephews, cousins and to her brothers and sisters also.

Glenda worked as an administrative assistant at the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office training center for the past eight years as well as being the assistant director for Homeland Security for Concordia Parish.

Glenda was a problem solver that loved a challenge and had a special gift for relating to and communicating with people. She saw beauty in everything, She was loving, kind, gentle and selfless, always thinking of others first.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Vernon Edward White and Lillian White; maternal grandparents, Luther and Ruth Skipper; and one brother-in-law, James Holomon.

Survivors include her parents of Ferriday; two sisters, Janice Lynn Crochet and husband, Terry, of Ferriday and Gail Dean Holomon of Vidalia; and two brothers, Vernon Morris White Jr. of Ferriday and Eddie White of Monterey.

Pallbearers will be Eddie White, Terry Crochet, Benjamin Crochet, Christopher Crochet, Matthew Jackson and Vernon M. White III.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brother White, Adam Sandell and Bobby Weaver.
