WOODVILLE — Services for Joan Savage Whetstone, 86, of Woodville, who died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Woodville with the Rev. Dr. Mary Ann Heine officiating.

Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Newman Funeral Home in Centreville.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Whetstone was born July 7, 1926, the daughter of Jack and Katie Ruth Marsalis Babers and Clifford and Georgia Savage.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, St. Paul’s Altar Guild, the Episcopal Church Women and the Junior Irwin Russell Book Club.

Mrs. Whetstone was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles E. “Big Daddy” Whetstone Sr.; and one sister, Ruth M. Byars.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan W. Chandler and husband, Kyle, and Joan W. Barnett and husband, Steve, all of West Point; three sons, Charles E. Whetstone Jr. and wife, Deborah, Clifford C. Whetstone and wife, Ida, and Randy J. Whetstone Sr. and wife, Laura Ann, all of Woodville; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Chandler IV, Charlie W. Chandler, Dustin S. Whetstone, Zachary R. Whetstone, Randy J. Whetstone Jr., Hayden S. Whetstone and August G. Morris.
