NATCHEZ — The Natchez Preservation Commission has voted 5-1 to deny an application from Mike Biglane of RMB Exploration for a proposed oil operation on historic Arlington property.

The commission is currently meeting.

The request for approval was the second; the project was also turned down last January.

This time the exploration company was seeking to drill on a smaller plot of land near the property, only 6.1 acres instead of 15 acres.

Biglane had previously filed an appeal to the commission’s decision with the state oil and gas board.
