FERRIDAY — Services for Charles Batey Quimby, 66, of Ferriday, who died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Louis Sklar officiating.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mr. Quimby was born Dec. 8, 1946, the son of Charles and Lorraine Quimby. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and he was a free Mason.

Charlie proudly served his county in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Military Order of the Stars and Bars (1861-1865), Sons of Confederate Veterans (1861-1865), Sons of Union Veterans (1861-1865), National Society of Sons of the American Revolution, Society of the Descendants of Washington’s Army at Valley Forge and the Virginia Society of the Order of the Founders and Patriots of America.

Mr. Quimby served as president of Jaycees from 1982-1983 and the president of Lake St. John Gas Company from 1979-2004.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Benji Quimby.

Survivors include his wife, Judy S. Quimby; two sons, Casey Quimby of Vidalia and Bryan Quimby and wife, Natalie Ater Quimby, of Clayton; and two sisters, Jan Thornhill and Melissa Powell, both of Monterey.
