BUDE — Services for Verler Mae Weathersby, 71, of Meadville, who died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Anthony Wilcher officiating.

Burial will follow at Bunkley Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until service time Sunday at the church.

Ms. Weathersby was born April 30, 1941, in Meadville, the daughter of Ned and Mary Brooks Weathersby. She was the pianist for Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, as well as secretary and Sunday school teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lizzie Baldwin; three brothers, Andrew Weathersby, Caruth Weathersby and Willie Weathersby.

Survivors include two loving daughters, Mary Green and husband, Edward, and Tammy Covington and husband, A.D., all of Meadville; two devoted sons, Jody Weathersby and fiancée, Jessica, of Bremerton, Wash., and Randall Weathersby and wife, Roslyn, of Hattiesburg; 10 grandchildren, Ebony Nickerson and husband, Marcus, of Dallas, Alana Covington of Albany, N.Y., who she raised as her own, Alan Covington of Hattiesburg, Brad Covington, Brian Covington and X’Avier Green, all of Meadville, Desiree Scott of Greenville, Jody Weathersby II and Jayla Weathersby, both of Bremerton, and Serenity Weathersby of Starkville; four great-grandchildren, Marquis Nickerson, Mekiah Nickerson, Micah Nickerson and Patrick Rockingham; sisters, Cerlene Carradine, Heser Huston and husband, Jewel, all of Meadville, and Ethel Terrell of Monrovia, Calif.; three brothers, Johnnie Weathersby of Meadville, J.C. Weathersby of Anaheim, Calif., and Ned Weathersby Jr. of Monrovia; one sister-in-law, Gloria Weathersby of California; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
