NATCHEZ — A Vidalia man is behind bars after reportedly striking a woman with his car outside the Stockyard Saloon Saturday night before fleeing the scene.
Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Amy McCarthy said Ryan S. McClung, 26, 211 Virginia Ave., was charged with felony hit and run and aggravated second-degree battery.
McClung and the 22-year-old woman reportedly got into an altercation inside the bar that continued outside the business at approximately 11:30 p.m., Saturday, McCarthy said. McClung then reportedly hit the woman, whose identity McCarthy declined to release, and fled the scene.
The woman was taken to Natchez Regional Medical Center, where she was airlifted to University Medical Center in Jackson. McCarthy did not know the woman’s condition or the extent of her injuries.
The woman, McCarthy said, may have been McClung’s girlfriend or ex-girlfriend.
McCarthy said a person at the scene of the hit-and-run identified McClung and the 2006 Pontiac G6 he was driving when he allegedly hit the woman. While on the scene, deputies saw the car pass the saloon and pursued McClung.
When deputies pulled McClung over, McCarthy said, evidence of the hit-and-run was on the car, and McClung was arrested.
He is being held without bond.
