NATCHEZ — Services for Wilbert White Sr., 85, of Natchez, who died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wilderness Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Strickland officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. White was born Oct. 8, 1930, in Adams County, the son of George Whiting Pernella Williams. He was a farmer, a logger and owned and operated White’s Dirt and Gravel Services.

Mr. White was a member of the Wilderness Baptist Church for more than 50 years. He was also a Good Samaritan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, LaVaugh White; and one sister, Dorothy Dotson.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie R. White; four children, Wilbert White Jr. of Yorktown, Va., Willie Minor and wife, Dorothy, Augusta Ownes of Natchez and Alfredia Jones and husband, James, of Houston, who he raised as his own; two brothers, Edward Dembly and wife, Dora, of Florida and Ollie Dembly of Minnesota; two sisters, Clyde Winston of Natchez and Fannie Elkins of Detroit; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Juanita Smith Winston of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
