COLUMBIA, La. — Despite getting a double and a home run from Taylor Rodgers, the Vidalia Lady Vikings lost to the Caldwell Parish Lady Spartans 7-5 Monday afternoon in their LHSAA District 3-3A opener.

A four-run rally by Caldwell Parish in the bottom of the second inning broke a 1-1 tie. Laura Perilloux was tagged for seven runs on nine hits in six innings. The defense behind her committed four costly errors.

Vidalia trailed Caldwell Parish 6-2 after three innings of play and still trailed by that score at the end of the fourth inning before scoring three runs in the top of the fifth to make it a 6-5 game. But the Lady Spartans scored one run in the bottom of the sixth to end the rally.

Vidalia (4-3, 0-1) plays at LaSalle at 4 p.m. today.
