JAY SOWERS | THE NATCHEZ DEMOCRAT — Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office Sgt. Mike Clark signals for a passing motorist to slow down as he directs traffic around the scene of an accident in front of a house located at 2972 St. Rt. 568 northeast of Ferriday on Saturday afternoon. A power pole and a natural gas meter box were struck during the accident. Traffic was restricted to one lane as members of the Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office and Concordia Parish Fire Department worked to contain the gas leak and process the wreck. Cristy Porter was inside the home watcheding television with her son, Jake, when the two heard screeching tires. “The only thing I saw,” Mrs. Porter said, “was two cars shooting across my yard.” Porter added that she and her son ran outside, and noticing that the gas meter had been struck, she told the two motorists to turn off their vehicles and flea the scene with their passengers.
