GLOSTER — State narcotics agents arrested a Gloster man Monday after seizing 10 pounds of illegal drugs worth approximately $100,000 from his residence.
Cary A. Thompson, 32, of Gloster, was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of hydrocodone and possession of codeine.
The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics — assisted by the Amite and Franklin county sheriff’s offices — made the arrest.
MBN officers seized from Thompson’s house approximately 6 pounds of cocaine and 4 pounds of marijuana, as well as a small amount of hydrocodone and a drug containing codeine, according to a news release from the MBN.
The agents also seized an automobile, a rifle, several handguns and approximately $1,000 in cash.
The search warrant for the drugs found its impetus after agents and deputies served arrest warrants against Thompson for aggravated assault in Franklin County and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in Amite County.
If convicted, Thompson faces a $1 million fine and 30 years in prison.
