FERRIDAY — A Ferriday man died Friday after being hit by a Delhi man attempting to pass a stopped vehicle in the road.
Louisiana State Police troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 84 west of Louisiana 15 Friday afternoon.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1995 Toyota Avalon, driven by Leedell White, 67, of Ferriday, was traveling west on U.S. 84 when it started to turn left onto Levens Addition Road and was hit by a 2011 GMC Sierra, driven by Frederick Fudickar, 29, of Delhi.
Fudickar was traveling west on U.S. 84 behind White and was attempting to pass a stopped car and White in a no passing zone.
White suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to Riverland Medical Center, where he died.
Fudickar was properly restrained and did not report any injuries.
Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, according to a press release from the state police. Toxicology samples were taken and will be submitted for analysis.
Fudickar was cited with passing in a no-passing zone.
The crash remains under investigation.
