NATCHEZ — Services for Henry Lee Smith Sr., 79, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Stanton officiating.

Burial will follow in Sunset View Memorial Park under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. today at Mackel’s Chapel.

Mr. Smith was born Nov. 21, 1933, in Adams County, the son of Henry Smith and Rosie Logan Smith Walker.

Mr. Smith was a retired principal and educator and taught more than 45 years in the Adams County public school district. He also served as Ward 4 alderman for the city of Natchez and was a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Thelma Williams Smith; daughter, Jacqueline S. West; son, Glenn Smith, and great-granddaughter, Dakota D. Hammett.

Survivors include two sons, Henry Lee Smith, and wife, Dale, and, Raythell Smith, and wife, Edrena; daughter, Ira S. Young, and husband, André, all of Natchez; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Dr. Gloria Winfrey of Chicago, Ill.; three sisters-in-law, Betty Williams of Baton Rouge, Deloris Frye of Chicago and Catherine Davis of New Orleans; special cousin, Eddie Logan of New Orleans; special friend, Willie BBillB Woods and wife, Sheryl, of Natchez, and a host of other relatives and many friends.
