BATON ROUGE — Blakeli Entremot pitched a complete-game three-hitter with eight strikeouts as the 11th-seeded Parkview Baptist Lady Eagles defeated the Vidalia Lady Vikings 4-0 Monday afternoon in the bi-district round of the LHSAA Class 3A Playoffs.
Despite entering the playoffs with a 15-14 record, Parkview Baptist looks poised to make another deep playoff run after being in the state championship game last year. Vidalia, the No. 22 seed, found out just how good this team really is.
The Lady Eagles scored one run in the bottom of the first inning and tacked on three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Nicky Dawson and Morgan Acosta both went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in and Alyssa McVicker was 2-for-3.
Laura Perilloux took the loss after allowing four runs, all earned, on eight hits with two strikeouts and three walks. Savannah McCarver had a double while Taylor Rodgers and Megan Naquin each had a single for the Lady Vikings.
Vidalia finished its season with a 17-10-1 overall record.
Sacred Heart 9, Block 4
VILLE PLATTE, La. — Despite the effort of Shauneisha Crumpton in the top of the sixth inning, the Block Lady Bears saw their season come to an end after their loss to the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans Monday afternoon in an LHSAA Class 1A bi-district round game.
Crumpton hit a two-run triple during a three-run rally that cut Sacred Heart’s lead to 9-4. Unfortunately for the Lady Bears, Block’s comeback attempt fell several runs short. Nikki Harbor went 2-for-4 for the Lady Bears.
Micahla Hughes allowed nine runs, only three earned, on 11 hits and one walk with two strikeouts in six innings. Sacred Heart scored nine straight runs after Block scored one run in the top of the first innings. A five-run rally by the Lady Trojans in the bottom of the second inning gave them the lead for good.
Block ended its season with an overall record of 13-17.
