NATCHEZ — Services for John Henry Buckles Jr., 91, of Natchez, who died Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Rapides Regional Medical Center as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Taylor’s Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.
Mr. Buckles was born June 14, 1921, in Church Hill, the son of John Henry Buckles Sr. and Willie Estelle Buckles. He was a retired cement mason and plasterer. He was also a Mason affiliated with District 11, a 33rd Degree Mason and Wishful Master.
Mr. Buckles was a member of Taylor’s Chapel Baptist Church and served as a deacon.
Survivors include five children, Jonnie McCarty and companion, Lloyd Stevens, of Boynton Beach, Fla., Betty Rodoson of Columbia, S.C., Debra Whittington and husband, Delbert, of Las Vegas, Virgie Buckles of Miami and the Rev. Michael Buckles of Natchez; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Buckles Carter and Lucille Norwood of Las Vegas; one brother, Louis Buckles of Las Vegas; and one godchild, Courtney Brown.
Pallbearers will be District 11 Masonic Brothers.
