FERRIDAY — Services for A.J. Gibson, 83, of Ferriday, who died Monday, April 29, 2013, at his residence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Young’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Mack Walker and the Rev. Richard Cullum officiating.

Burial will follow at Wanilla Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Gibson was born Oct. 24, 1929, the son of R.D. Gibson and Myrtle Gibson. He was retired from Johns Manville Millwright Plant. He also self-employed in general construction.

Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Gibson; his parents; stepmother, Minnie Mae Gibson; and granddaughter, Jennifer L. Gibson.

Survivors include two sons, Richard D. Gibson and Garry Gibson and wife, Jenny; two grandsons, John Paul Gibson and Andy Gibson, all of Ferriday; one brother, Robert E. Gibson of Brookhaven; one sister, Maggie Lena Lea of Wanilla; two granddaughters, Jennyfer Gibson and Jada Gibson, both of Vidalia; mother of the great-grandchildren, Laci Gibson of Vidalia; and a number of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers will be John Paul Gibson, Andy Gibson, Larry Wagoner, Bobby Cowan, Allen Watson and Doug Gable.

Honorary pallbearers will be Guy Thompson, Roy Wagoner and Thomas Newman.
