BUDE — The Franklin County Bulldogs had enough offense to win Game 3 of their MHSAA Class 3A South State Playoffs first-round series against the Philadelphia Tornadoes Monday afternoon.
It was the defense that let Franklin County down as the Bulldogs fell to Region 5-3A No. 3 seed Philadelphia 13-7 with the Tornadoes moving on to the South State semifinals against Class 3A powerhouse Sumrall and the Bulldogs having their season come to an end.
“We had a bunch of hits. We just made too many errors,” Bulldogs head coach Chris Calcote said.
Ethan Verduin, Caleb Fairley and Bryce White each had three hits and Trey Bailey had two hits for Region 7-3A champion Franklin County, which finished with a 15-10 overall record. Kade Clanton took the loss for the Bulldogs.
