FAYETTE — Services for Dorothy Jean Rogers Jackson, 49, of Fayette, who died Thursday, May 2, 2013, in Houma, La., will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Beckett Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Fayette with the Rev. Diane Banks officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home in Fayette.
Visitation will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from noon until service time Friday at the church.
Ms. Jackson was born Jan. 3, 1964, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Bennie Lee Rogers and Della Jean Rogers. She was a 1982 graduate of Jefferson County High School. She retired from Alcorn State University housekeeping department.
Ms. Jackson was a member of Beckett Chapel A.M.E. Church. She loved to sing, cook and be a momma and friend to everyone.
Survivors include her mother; two sons, Lanvinckey and Robert; four sisters, Patricia, Lucille, Carolyn and Michelle; three grandsons, Lavinckey (LJ), Isiah and Lavinckey (T-Scooby); a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends; and a very special friend, Johnny Gibbs.
Pallbearers will be Leahman Jackson, David Lee McBride, Cedric McDonald, Jerome Steward, Claude Earls, Robert Kelly and Joshua Celestin.
