Mamie Walston Bice

FERRIDAY — Graveside services for Mamie Walston Bice, 94, who died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Camelot Leisure Living in Ferriday were 1 p.m. Monday at Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.
A celebration of her life was hosted at her daughter’s home in Vidalia at 4 p.m.
Mrs. Bice was born Oct. 17, 1918, the daughter of John and Ella Mason Walston.
She worked as a secretary of South Central Bell and retired from the Bank of the Southwest in Houston. Mrs. Brice loved working in her yard, loved music and loved to dance. She was always full of energy and life and was very generous. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Bice was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Julius M. Westmoreland and Capt. Walter Brice; two sisters, Ruby Ratcliff and Dell Grainger; and four brothers, Willie Walston, J. E. Walston, Loyd Walston and Jimmy Dale Walston.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Tipton Emfinger and husband, Barry, of Vidalia and Gwen Sweeden of Knoxville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Jason Tipton of Vidalia, Carol Sweeden McGehee and husband, Jim, of Natchez, Tommy Sweeden and Raymond Sweeden, both of Knoxville; three great-grandchildren, Natalie Sweeden Kimbro and Anna Sweeden, both of Knoxville and Damon Tipton of Vidalia; two sisters, Grace Rodriguez and husband, Johnny, of Metarie, La., and Pat Medina and husband, Tony, of Kenner, La.; two brothers, Billy Walston and wife, Kay, of Abita Springs, La., and Larry Walston and wife, Martha, of Sicily Island.
Pallbearers were Jason Tipton, Jim McGehee, Barry Emfinger, Johnny Rodriguez, Larry Walston and Billy Walston.
