IOTA, La. — A Mass for Wallace Estine Firmin, who died peacefully at his residence Tuesday, May 14, 2013, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Iota, La. The Rev. David Broussard will concelebrate the Mass with the Rev. Jules Thierry, pastor of Saint Joseph Catholic Church.
The Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday at King Cemetery in Simmesport, La., under the direction of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Iota.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and from 8 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Mr. Firmin was retired from McGowan Working Partners. He was an avid horseman and cattle rancher.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, Joy Firmin; his parents, Lemmie and Luby Firmin; one brother, Lemmie Firmin Jr.; two sisters, Lena F. Jeansonne and Nelda F. Pupera; and half-brother, Lurrie Adams.
Survivors include his wife of 18 and a half years, Jeanette Klumpp Firmin; three children, Ronald C. Firmin, Allan J. Firmin and wife, Deborah, and Glenda F. Hendrix and husband, John “Buddy,”; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; six sisters, Bernice Latino and husband, Sam, Marjorie Maddie and husband, Bill, Ruby Bacon, Elaine Bacon, Madeline Elliott and husband, Leroy, and Jean Firmin; a large extended family of five stepchildren, Keith Klumpp and wife, Karen, Debra K. Myrick and husband, Ricky, Helen K. Bellon, Kim K. Fruge and husband, Darrell, and Mark Klumpp; and a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren in Iota.
