NATCHEZ — Natchez Police are investigating an incident in which a man was apparently shot at and wounded for not loaning his cell phone to two men he didn’t know.

According to a report at the Natchez Police Department, the victim told officers at 2:42 a.m. Sunday that earlier that morning he had been standing at the corner of East Franklin Street and St. Charles Avenue when two men walked up to him asking to use his phone. When he told them he did not have it with him, the report says the two men continued walking.

“The suspects walked away, then turned around, pulling a silver (object that) appeared to be a gun,” the report stated. “(The) complainant said the suspects started yelling, ‘Now this is what (is going to) happen.’ He said the suspects started running away and shooting.”
