3 sentenced in tax fraud conspiracy case

NATCHEZ — Three people were sentenced in federal court this week for their part in a tax fraud conspiracy.
Shandy Davis, 37, of Port Gibson, Stephanie Odoms, 44, of Hermanville and Howard Jackson, 52, of Hermanville were all sentenced in the matter.
Odoms and Jackson reportedly conspired to file false tax returns in excess of $115,000, and took the return checks to a bank in Port Gibson where Davis worked, and Davis cashed the fraudulently gained checks, according to a statement from the U.S. Department of Justice.
Davis was given a sentence of 27 months prison for structuring and evading financial transaction reporting requirements.
Odoms received a sentence of 37 months prison time for conspiracy to commit mail fraud, while Jackson was sentenced to 46 months prison time for structuring and evading financial transaction reporting requirements.
All three were also sentenced to three years supervised release following their prison terms.
The Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Division, the U.S. Secret Service and The U.S. Postal Inspection Service investigated the matter.
