ROXIE — Services for Jessie LeVander McCoy Jr., 40, of Roxie, who died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Roxie First Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Johnson officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. McCoy was born June 10, 1973, in Adams County, the son of Jessie McCoy Sr. and Beverly Buckles McCoy.

He was employed as a correctional officer and attended Roxie First Baptist Church.

Mr. McCoy was preceded in death by his father; one sister, Jessica McCoy; grandfathers, Albert Buckles Jr. and Robert McCoy; grandmothers, Corine “Lena” Buckles and Catherine McCoy; two uncles, Alvin Buckles and Coleman C. Jackson; and one aunt, Betty F. Sayles.

Survivors include his mother; one daughter, Jamya Marie McCoy of Atlanta; two sisters, Feshica Shantay McCoy and Geraldnika Shau’Mia McCoy, both of Roxie; five uncles, Robert McCoy Jr. of Roxie, Edmon J. McCoy of Miami, Willie Joe McCoy of Roxie, Ricky McCoy and wife, Diane, of Fayette and Arthur Ray Briggs and wife, Willie Mae, of Jonesboro, Ga.; nine aunts, Essie L. Singleton and husband, Chris, Rosie M. Buckles, Peachie Morgan, Joyce Anderson, Marvel A. Carter, Amanda McCoy, Debra Lowe, all of Roxie, Mary D. Proby and husband, Ray, of Natchez and Dorothy G. Harris and husband, Carl, of Biloxi; two nephews, Keontre’ Hayes and Roeland Williams; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Cordell Jenkins, Henry Jenkins, Brandon McCoy, Clarence Culbert Jr., Daveyon McCoy and Dexter Bonds.

Honorary pallbearers will be Willie McCoy, Ricky McCoy, Eric Buckles, Jasper Buckles and Cedric Proby.
