NATCHEZ —Natchez Police are investigating an alleged vehicle arson that destroyed two cars and the majority of one Village Place house.
Lt. Craig Godbold said officers responded to a report of a fire at 3 Village Place at approximately 3:15 a.m. Friday.
“It appears that a car in the carport was initially set on fire and that fire spread to the house and to the attic of the house, which also burned the car that was in the driveway,” Godbold said. “We have the fire marshal coming in to examine everything.”
The owner of the house, Godbold said, is related to an Eastwood Road house resident whose car was set on fire in May.
Godbold said the two cases may be linked together.
“We believe they are, but we don’t have any evidence to show that right now,” he said.
Godbold said the case remains under investigation.
