PINEVILLE, La. — The Concordia Dixie Youth 9-year-old All-Stars took on what head coach Wayne Harveston called the team to beat Saturday morning in the Shreveport All-Stars at the state tournament.
And the Concordia 9s found how out first-hand just how good this Shreveport team is in a 16-0 loss that lasted just three innings. But despite the lopsided final score, this was about the fewest runs anyone has held Shreveport to this year.
“They’re a travel team and they’ve played about 100 games this year. They’ve beat everyone in this tournament 17, 18, 19, 20-0,” Harveston said. Our boys got there and did good, but the team we played has played a lot of games together. To play 100 games in a year, that’s a lot of ball playing.”
Harveston also some positive things from his team in the first of its two games Saturday.
“The boys started putting the bat on the ball and played some good defense. Hopefully, we can win our final game here,” Harveston said.
The Concordia 9s took on DeRidder in its final game of the tournament Saturday afternoon, but results weren’t available at press time.
