NATCHEZ — Services for James “Jim” Mangum, 56, of Natchez, who died Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Leek officiating.
Burial will follow at Sharon Historical Cemetery near Magee.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Mangum was born Sept. 11, 1956, in Vicksburg, the son of James Spurgeon Mangum Sr. and Beryl Harkey Mangum.
He was a graduate of Trinity Episcopal High School, University of Southern Mississippi and Mississippi State University. He spent his early years in Port Gibson and Fayette. He was a grant writer for Southwest Mississippi Planning and Development District. James was a great outdoor lover of nature. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to be with his friends that enjoyed it with him.
Mr. Mangum was preceded in death by his father and special cousin, Dr. Spurgeon Mangum.
Survivors include fiancée, Tina Fitt and daughter, Hannah Fitt, of Natchez; mother, Beryl Mangum, of Natchez; and one brother, Hayden Dent of Ocean Springs.
