NATCHEZ — Memorial services for Darleen Lewis Johnson, 60, of Natchez, who died Monday, July 15, 2013, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Jerusalem Baptist Church.
Visitation will follow the services at the church.
Ms. Johnson donated her body to science.
Ms. Johnson was born Aug. 3, 1952, the daughter of Herbert and Rosa Lewis.
She was a 1970 graduate of Sadie V. Thompson High School and a 1973 graduate of Jackson State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in sociology. She retired from AT&T, formerly South Central Bell, in 2007.
Ms. Johnson was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church where she served as church clerk, Sunday school teacher and choir director.
She enjoyed cooking, baking and entertaining guests.
She was preceded in death by her father; her grandparents, Ike Watson and Josephine Pope Watson and Lucinda Goins and Toby Lewis; one sister, Hattie B. Sims Ellis; one nephew, Renard Ellis; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Survivors include two sons, Brian L. Johnson and companion, Mercedes, and Bruce A. Johnson and companion, Dominique; her mother; one sister, Joyce Marie Lewis, all of Natchez; three brothers, Herbert Lewis and wife, Marzettia, of Duluth, Ga., Robert E. Lewis and wife, Dinah, of Plano, Texas and Paul F. Lewis and wife, Bernice, of Natchez; three grandchildren, D’aira Johnson, Jaliyah Johnson and Brian Johnson III; a number of stepchildren and step-grandchildren; two goddaughters, Kwamme Anderson and Tia Donald; and 10 nieces and nephews, Tremaine, Darrick, Robert Jr., Herbert III, Henson, Shannon, Paula, Paul II, Collier and Ryan.
Pallbearers will be the class of 1970.
