NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Edith M. Van Pelt, 90, of Natchez, who died Friday, July 19, 2013, at Promise Hospital, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn Memorial park Cemetery with the Rev. Bill McMullin officiating.

Burial will follow in the cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today and 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Van Pelt was born April 10, 1923, in Wisner, La., the daughter of Caddo McDonald and Etta Mae McDonald.

Mrs. Van Pelt was the first female Adams County tax assessor and served four terms.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Banks William Van Pelt Sr.

Survivors include one son, Banks W. Van Pelt Jr. of Natchez; three grandchildren, Barbara D. West, Honor L. Davis, both of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Banks W. Van Pelt III of Tacoma, Wash.; eight great-grandchildren, Jennifer E. Wilde, Banks W. Van Pelt IV, William R. Davis, Reagan L. Davis. Ryan H. Davis, Damien Van Pelt, Julian E. Van Pelt and Ashley Rudolph; three great-great-grandchildren, Jaricos M. Wilde, Banks W. Van Pelt V and Jayce A. Van Pelt.
