Mrs. Puhr was born in Hamburg, the daughter of Samuel M. and Kathryn French Harrigill. She attended school in Washington and married John Joseph Puhr on Nov. 24, 1945. The family moved to Natchez in 1948. They were members of Assumption Church and their children attended Cathedral School in Natchez. In 1959, the Puhr family moved to Mobile, Ala.

The family moved to Moss Point in January of 1968. They became deeply involved at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was especially fond of singing and was one of the original members of the church choir. She remained very involved in her church well into her 80s.

Mrs. Puhr opened her home and heart to so many people who were blessed to find their way into her life. She reached out in service to others and never expected anything in return. She was concerned about the problems of others and did whatever she could to help.

Mrs. Puhr was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed. Each of us have been made a better person because of our time with her. We owe her a great debt that can only be repaid through service to God and others.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Albert Harrigill; two sisters, Evelyn Thompson and Gladys Burk; and her husband, John Puhr.

Survivors include six children, John Puhr Jr. and wife, Judith, Ron Puhr and wife, Donna, Dan Puhr and wife, Nancy, Kathy Childress and husband, Jim, Roger Puhr and wife, Frances, and Debie Lopez and husband, Tony; one sister, Mary Grace Gibson and husband, Curtis; 18 wonderful grandchildren; and 12 beautiful great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church, P.O. Box 8549, Moss Point, MS 39562.
