FAYETTE — Services for Thelma Marie Buckleman Knapp, 99, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at the Magnolia House in Natchez, will be at 3 p.m. today at the Fayette Methodist Church.

Burial will follow at the Fayette Cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home in Fayette.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until service time today at the church.

Mrs. Knapp was born June 4, 1914, in Natchez, the daughter of Otto and Kansas Scott Buckleman. She was a 1932 graduate of Fayette High School and married Charles Edwin Knapp on Oct. 18, 1935, and lived in Fayette until his death in 1950.

Mrs. Knapp worked for the Selective Service System from 1950 to 1969. She then went to work for the Fayette post office and later became postmaster in 1972. She retired in 1978.

Mrs. Knapp was a member of the Fayette Presbyterian Church until it disbanded. She then joined the Vidalia Presbyterian Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents and foster brother, Cecil Irwin.

Survivors include one daughter, Marie Knapp Lane and husband, James. A., of Fayette; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Lane Weeks and husband, Chance R., of Haughton, La.; two grandsons, Allan Lane Jr. of Fayette and Edwin K. Lane and wife, Christy, of Louisiana; four great-grandchildren, Lane Weeks, Matthew H. Weeks, Noah J. Weeks, all of Haughton, and Briley Ann Lane of Louisiana.

Pallbearers will be Allan Lane Jr., Edwin K. Lane, Chance R. Weeks, Eddie Thompson, Howard Bonds and Lane M. Weeks.

Honorary pallbearers will be R.M. Truly Jr., Matthew H. Weeks, Noah J. Weeks and Marion Carnegie.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette Cemetery Association, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and to a charity of choice.
