NATCHEZ — Wednesday’s heavy rains put a flight delay on the new fly over at the intersection of D’Evereux and Seargent S. Prentiss drives.

But the bridge should be ready for takeoff today, Mississippi of Department of Transportation District Engineer Albert White said Thursday evening.

MDOT had hoped to have the fly over ready for traffic Wednesday.

Crews were busy Thursday evening installing signs for the new construction, something that was scheduled to be done Wednesday.

“We just couldn’t get things put together because of the weather,” White said.

Painting and other construction related activities will continue as drivers use the fly over. Some lane closures on the bridge will occur as crews install curbs, gutters and lighting. Drivers are advised to use caution and pay close attention to signs and directions.
