NATCHEZ — Services for Billie Jean Canter Johnson, 84, of Vidalia, who died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Camelot Leisure Living, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Pentecostals of the Miss-Lou Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Eddie Hodge officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.
Mrs. Johnson was born Feb. 19, 1929, in Wink, Texas, the daughter of William Gordon Canter and Ida Corine Dykes Canter. She was a talented professional hairdresser and stylist.
Mrs. Johnson was a former owner of Billie’s Beauty Shop. To every niece and nephew, she was revered to be so dear and was a second mother to all of them.
Survivors include two sons, Kirby Lewis of Natchez and Marshall Lewis of Magee; three sisters, Barbara Rosario of Olney, Ill., Mickie Smith of Natchez and Tina Lewis Thompson and husband, Paul, of Vidalia; six grandchildren, Jennifer Lewis Varnado and husband, Bill, of Brandon, Brandi Lewis Wren and husband, Andrew, and Sandi Lewis, all of Dallas and Ben Lewis and Taylor Yates, both of Vidalia; four great-grandchildren, Barrett Aldridge of Brandon and Amber Thompson, Landon Thompson and Brandon Thompson, all of Vidalia; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Billy Ray Farmer, Phillip Smith, Ben Lewis, Paul Thompson, Joshua Canter, Andrew Wren, Bill Varando and Barrett Aldridge.
