LAUREL — The Adams County Christian School Lady Rebels had a rough outing on the road in MAIS Division South AA action as they lost to the Laurel Christian School Lady Lions 6-0 Saturday afternoon.
“The first half of the first half, up until that point the girls were playing fantastic,” ACCS head coach Jimmy Allgood said. “Aggressive play on our part got a warning for Jordan Parker.”
Allgood said that right after the 20 minute mark of the first half, the Lady Rebels weren’t playing as aggressive or with as much intensity, and it showed. Laurel Christian took advantage of that and went into halftime with a commanding 4-0 advantage.
Also, ACCS was playing without several players who were out sick, but Allgood said he would not use that as an excuse because of the lopsided scores Laurel Christian had defeated ACCS by in years past, such as 18-0 and 12-0.
“Our girls maintained aggressive play in the second half, only allowing two more goals,” Allgood said. “Now for our girls to play (them) to a 6-0 score, I’m very proud of their performance. Laurel Christian year in and year out plays for the state championship against the other powerhouses in (Class) AA.”
ACCS (3-3, 1-2) returns to the field at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Brookhaven Academy.
