WOODVILLE — With Bowling Green School leading by just two points and the clock running down in the fourth quarter, the Buccaneers turned to Patrick Roublow to put some breathing room between them and Wilkinson County Christian Academy.
And Roublow delivered the knockout punch with a 10-yard touchdown run, his third score of the game, with just 2:47 to go as the Buccaneers held off the Rams Friday night.
Roublow had a 43-yard touchdown run and a 9-yard touchdown run in the third quarter that turned a narrow 8-6 halftime lead into a 22-6 advantage with 7:39 remaining. His three TDs offset an amazing performance by WCCA’s Dra’ Tolliver, who had four catches for 129 yards and two touchdowns and was second on the team in tackles with eight.
Jamal Washington had an all-around good game for the Rams. He completed eight of 18 passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 16 carries for 55 yards and had eight tackles on defense. However, two interceptions proved to be the difference in the outcome.
The game was delayed for 30 minutes at the start of the second quarter due to lightning from a nearby thunderstorm.
WCCA (0-3) plays at 7 p.m. next Friday at home against Oak Forest Academy.
